That’s a wrap on another successful Book Week Scotland!

We have had lots of fun celebrating Book Week Scotland and Anti-bullying week!
Drop Everything And Read (DEAR)
On Monday, every time that the bell rang during class time, everyone stopped what they were doing and picked up their reading book…. even the Primary 5’s who were in the middle of their PE lesson joined in!

Odd Socks Day
On Monday we also celebrated ODD SOCK DAY. Spotty socks, stripy socks and a lot of Christmas socks – everyone got into the spirit of Odd Socks day to celebrate what makes us all unique. Odd Socks Day is an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all special.

Book Swap!
It was great to see so many children bringing in their books from home to swap – we counted over 100 books swapped in total. What a fabulous effort!

Equality Books
We gave each class a book which had a particular focus on Equality. After studying the book in class, each class made a poster then shared it with the whole school in our Book Week assembly. These posters will shortly be proudly on display in our revamped library!

Writing and Poster Competitions
Well done to everyone who entered our Book Week Scotland competitions. It’s always great so see what such great writers we have at Carrick Knowe – and some superb artists too. Here are just a selection below:

Bookbug and Read, Write, Count!
On Wednesday, we invited our P1-P3 parents in to find out more about the book bags all of our children receive. They then had the chance to join their children in their classes to take part in an activity.
