Some of our JRSO’s were invited to The City Chambers to take part in the City of Edinburgh Council’s annual launch to promote road safety in schools.

Throughout the morning, we looked at upcoming events that the school can take part in and we were also able to take part in some different workshops. With Cycle Scotland and SUSTRANS, we made a smoothie by pedalling a bike really quickly, we met the community police team and spoke about park smart, we worked with council leaders to make a poster that demonstrates all the great things the JRSO team already do at Carrick Knowe and we did a science experiment to help us visualise the importance of using cars less and choosing active ways to travel like walking, cycling and scooting.

The JRSO’s were rewarded for their hard work and contribution with a snack. The satsumas were a huge hit (apparently they taste so much better when they come out the fridge) and the biscuits were tasty too… it’s safe to say that certain members of the Carrick Knowe JRSO team have sweet teeth!

Mrs Buchanan can’t wait to get to work with the JRSO’s and plan some fun activities the whole school can take part in over the course of the year!
