Friday 24th June

Once again we want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the many CKPS TEAM staff who’ve worked so hard to help us throughout the school year in so many different ways. We’ve been busy practising our joined-up handwriting ✍🏼 and typing skills to write and sign cards for each of them. Thank you to: Ms Brunton, Mrs Centola, Mrs Crawford, Mrs Dalley, Ms Doig, Mrs Durie, Mrs Grierson, Miss Harris, Mrs MacKay, Mrs McCormack, Mrs Moore, Miss Owenson, Mrs Rodger, Mrs Ross, Mrs Roxburgh, and, last but by no means least…. Mr Millar. You are each MUCH APPRECIATED! 🙂 How will we manage without a few of you next year?! To those of you who are RETIRING, we wish you lots of happiness and new things to enjoy.

Will this be our final game of SWAP at CKPS, or maybe ever?! Find out who has been doing tricky DIVISION sums in such a creative way! Which one of us has been practising and persevering to learn how to read the first 300 most common words?….

Did you know?!… Carrick Knowe’s Got Talent! Thanks to all the AMAZING 🌟 performers (rehearsed by the talented Miss Inglis), we all enjoyed such a great variety of TREMENDOUS TALENT at this week’s show! EVERYONE WAS BRILLIANT! 👏

I know there will be plenty more fun and memorable moments in the coming final week of this school year, (and no doubt a few farewell tears too! 😥), before it will be the summer holiday! I hope you have a great weekend, Mrs Dale 🙂

Friday 17th June

It was so wonderful that at last we could be together as a school to watch our STAR P1 pupils; of course their assembly was loved by family members – and Fred Frog – too! 🐸
P1! YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!

And now for a quick glimpse of Skye the Scarecrow since the summer of 2021, ‘through all the changing scenes of life’ – do you recognise the different SEASONS?….

(SUMMER, AUTUMN, WINTER, SPRING)

We’re still hoping to discover some carrots 🥕 growing one day soon! We should be able to harvest some broad beans before long. Skye the Scarecrow and I are going to miss 😢 the help of some of our current P7 pupils out at the allotment next session – they’ve worked really hard to help weed, plant and water over the years 👏- so A SPECIAL BIG THANK YOU to them! 👍

Not long to go now before it will be the summer holiday time! I hope everyone enjoys this weekend – you might need your sunglasses and a sun hat! Mrs Dale 😎

Friday 10th June

SUMMER MUST BE HERE! Fred Frog and I were excited to buy a mint ice-cream this week, sold to us by Evah, working in the P1/2 shop! The yummy treat cost us £2.00! THANK YOU! 🐸

We enjoyed working with some of our P2 pupils this week – everyone did so well. 👏
It’s the month of JUNE! This month we don’t have one particular CKPS ‘Superhero of the Month’ but all nine of our Growth Mindset Superheroes are looking out for any achievements to celebrate – see if you can spot who has been rewarded, and for what:

Zack and Jenny were busy writing their amazing autobiographies!

Thank you for sharing your GREAT WRITING with me. 👍

I listened to Ody read aloud his fabulous version of the story of the The Three Little Pigs 🐷🐷🐷 🐺- Ezra was such an amazing support for Ody, and helped to decide which Superhero would be best for Ody’s reward. 🙂

Lots of us work hard each week to increase our knowledge of the most common words – thanks to all our patient Pupil Support Assistants who are such a great help when we do this. By doing this we are improving our reading fluency. WELL DONE everyone for all your achievements at home and in school!

Practice makes progress….. this weekend, why not see if you can find a few moments to GET COMFY SOMEWHERE and READ A GOOD STORY BOOK…. perhaps you would enjoy watching the CBeebies presenter Cerrie Burnell speak about her life-long love of stories and why she wanted to be an author. You will also hear all about her book Harper and the Scarlet Umbrella and some of the adventures Harper undertakes! Cerrie also talks about her experience of reading and writing with DYSLEXIA

See you soon! Mrs Dale

Thursday 2nd June 2022

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II‘s Platinum Jubilee 1952 to 2022. 70 YEARS as Queen!
At CKPS we marked and celebrated this historical moment in various ways,
including the whole school enjoying a FANTASTIC ‘street party’ lunch in the playground,
with special CELEBRATION CAKES and SUPER SUNSHINE!
😎

On Wednesday 1st June, we came to school wearing something red, white and/or blue, or dressed in our ‘royal best’!

Recently pupils were challenged to design a Platinum Jubilee cake decoration. CONGRATULATIONS to the winners who saw their designs iced onto real cakes which we ate as a scrumptious treat at the street party. A huge thank you to our Parent Council for funding this. And thanks also to our amazing SLT (Senior Leadership Team) for helping to facilitate all the events, but especially to Miss INGLIS who surely deserves THREE CHEERS! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! 👏

Also this week, Fred Frog’s P3 friends celebrated Fred Frog’s birthday ! and said thank you to him for all the fun times we’ve had together this year! 😉

I hope everyone enjoys the extra long PLATINUM JUBILEE holiday weekend. It looks like the good weather is here to stay for a few days. 🙂 That’s all for now, Mrs Dale
