Families Connect

Families Connect is an eight week programme which builds on parents’ existing skills and knowledge and provides them with the confidence to support their child’s learning in the home.
Families Connect builds relationships between parents and school and provides opportunities for parents to share their parenting experiences with others.
Over the eight weeks, parents discuss aspects of their children’s learning during informal workshops. They are introduced to a series of fun, adaptable activities, techniques and games that they can do with their children at home to support their children’s learning in three key areas: Social and Emotional development, Literacy and Language development and Numeracy.
We offer Families Connect to P1 families and can have a maximum of 10 families in the group. Families must be able to commit to attending all eight weeks if possible.
Please see below for comments from parents/carers who have completed the most recent Families Connect workshops:
“Families Connect has helped me to reflect on my communication style, reflect on it and change it for the better”
“We have laughed lots over the past 8 weeks, it’s good to know that all parents feel the same as me and winging it!”
“Before it started I thought it was a big commitment. However, I looked forward to each week, as did my child”
“It has been a really positive experience and I’m so glad that we’ve taken part. I feel like I’ve learnt a lot to help our family at home and it’s been wonderful to speak to other parents”
“I really enjoyed getting to spend 1-1 time with my child as our home is so busy”
