We have had a really busy first couple of weeks in P6. The children have been settling in to their new classes and beginning to learn the new routines. Our highlight has been the trip to the Edinburgh Book Festival where we were treated to a fabulous talk from the author of ‘Feather’, M G Leonard.
Our trip was fantastic and we learned all about M (Maya) G Leonard’s own school experiences. Maya also really helped us to understand the story and her reasoning behind it; the characters and who she based them on and the setting which was where she had been on holiday with her own family before writing the book.
Mrs Bennett and Mrs Christie were so proud of how responsible both classes were on the trip. We continue to listen to Maya’s narration of the story in class and we are really enjoying it.
The children said ” I think she did good expressions”
” I liked how she told us all about the inspiration for all the characters”

” I liked when she read Chapter 1 and described it in detail.”
