โฆ. The Fairtrade Foundation! Itโs their annual celebration of all things Fairtrade, raising awareness for the need for fairer trade to support farmers near and far. This year is extra special, because the Foundation is celebrating 30 years of the Fairtrade movement in the UK.
Fairtrade Fortnight 2024 is taking place right now, from 9th โ 22nd September. Perhaps youโll notice something with a Fairtrade label if youโre out shopping.
At school some of us found out a little more about Fairtrade; we know that when you choose to buy something with a Fairtrade label, you are helping to ensure that farmers receive a fairer price for what they grow. Bananas are something most of us eat in our day-to-day lives – many supermarkets now sell fairly-traded bananas. We enjoyed playing the game โBreaks and Laddersโ which helped us think more about what it might be like to be in a Fairtrade farmerโs shoes:

Continuing with the โfood themeโ!โฆ. We transformed our harvested red onions into some onion soup! Unlike the bananas, there were zero โfood milesโ involved because we grew the red onions ourselves, at the CKPS allotment:

Meanwhile, Fred Frog and his P3 friends had another busy week, including using our โFred talkโ to sound out and read words, as well as our โFred fingersโ to โfinger spellโ and then write words:

Spot some of the different ways weโve been practising our spelling patterns:
Finally, thanks and WELL DONE ๐ to these two pupils for showing RESPECT and KINDNESS:

Have a wonderful September L-O-N-G weekend. Mrs Dale

PS AUTUMN is here! I found such a lovely leaf ๐ one day as I โcycled home from school this week; I couldnโt resist stopping to pick it up; I was amazed to see all the colours of autumn on one leaf!
