Pupils in Primary 3 have had a super busy start to the year with lots of learning going on inside and outside of the classroom…
Outdoor Learning
We have been busy playing games in the woods using our senses; creating symmetrical patterns using natural materials for Maths Week Scotland and found inspiration for our Autumnal poems by going for a walk in the woods.

The Puppet Theatre
This term, our IDL project has been all about fairytales and puppets. We have used different materials to create different puppets and then used these to create our own and retell traditional fairytales. We have worked on using different voices and creating our own scenes as well as performing with others using our puppets.

Fantastic Fairytales
We have been re-writing lots of fairytales making sure we include a beginning, middle and end. By retelling stories that we already know, it has allowed us to focus on ensuring we have a good structure to our stories and means that we can concentrate on our punctuation and use of wow words. We have also been working in reading trios, helping us to develop our collaborative skills.

Marvellous Maths
In maths, we have been very busy developing our knowledge of place value and our addition and subtraction strategies. During Maths Week Scotland we explored symmetry outdoors and in our P.E. lessons.

We’ve had fun exploring materials and using them to build and test autumn apple boats.

We even had a visit from P5 who shared their keynote presentations with us! Thank you P5.
It’s been a fantastic first term in P3. We hope everyone has a well deserved rest in the October holiday and we’ll see everyone for lots more fun learning in term 2!
