In Primary 4, children have been working with textiles. Last week, pupils tied up triangles of sheeting with string, often using stones as well. They were shown how different ways of tying the fabric resulted in different patterns. After it was tied, they chose which colour they wanted it dyed. Next, they plaited three different colours of fabric, to make a plait. This was tricky, but children helped each other, and by the end of both lessons, everyone’s was finished.

After the lessons, Mrs Pincock dyed the fabric and hung it to dry. It’s now been opened and ironed, ready for use in class. Perhaps they will be head scarves or bandanas, or maybe something else.

Happy Easter from everyone at Carrick Knowe! We return to school on Tuesday 21st April.
