This has been an incredibly busy term at Carrick Knowe, with P2 being no exception! Here are the highlights of what we have been up to this term:
Our learning context: Weather
P2 have been learning about the weather this term. This involved making our very own weather forecast studios, and designing symbols to represent and learn about different types of weather. We also learned about why rainbows are formed and set ourselves the challenge to make our own class rainbows using objects in the classroom to show each of the seven colours.

We were also inspired by the very autumnal rain outside to create some umbrella silhouette art.

Read Write Count
During Book Week Scotland, we were joined by some of our parents, carers, grandparents and family members to explore our book bags with us. We had a look at our new books and completed some activities based on their contents; we made our own comics based on the one in “How to Make a Story” and made our own dinosaurs similar to the ones found in “My First Book of Dinosaurs”.

Cosy Winter Art and Design
As the weather became colder, hats, scarves and gloves made a more regular appearance in class! We created some wax-resist “woolly” hats and dressed some snowmen with proper winter gear. This definitely helped us get into the festive spirit!
We definitely deserve a lovely winter break now, so we are all ready for a fantastic 2025!
