We have been learning about some of the plants that grow in our school grounds. We learned to identify elderflower, and how to make sure it is not hawthorn or cow parsley which both grow close by to the elderflower bushes at the edge of the field. We smelled hawthorn and elderflower and noticed the difference in smells (hawthorn is not as sweet as elderflower!).

We picked the elderflower and then we washed and trimmed it.

We added honey and sliced lemons. We added hot water and it left it to stew over the weekend.

We strained the mixture through a cloth and then mixed it with fizzy water for a refreshing elderflower cordial drink. Yummy! (Or not as some of us thought).

🌞 SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER 🌞 We will return on Wednesday 12th August 2026! 🌞
