DYSLEXIA AWARENESS WEEK, SCOTLAND, 2025 is COMING SOON! …
… It takes place from Monday 29th September to Sunday 5th October. For this year’s awareness raising week DYSLEXIA SCOTLAND has chosen the theme: BUSTING MYTHS! …

At CKPS we will talk about the MYTHS and make sure we understand more about the TRUTHS!

To help us learn more about DYSLEXIA, above and below are just some of the MYTHS, along with the TRUTHS… (do pause the slideshow if you need longer reading time!) …
NEW FOR DYSLEXIA AWARENESS WEEK at CKPS this year!…. to help raise awareness of DYSLEXIA, some of us will be wearing and distributing Ellie’s Blue Dyslexia Ribbons …

DYSLEXIA AWARENESS WEEK is about helping those of us who have DYSLEXIA to help ourselves … so each P3 to P7 class has already received an updated CKPS DYSLEXIA TOOLKIT and, following feedback received from staff and pupils last session, there are some exciting new additions! …

The toolkits were carefully checked and prepared thanks to this year’s P7 CKPS DYSLEXIA CHAMPIONS. 🙂 …

… just as important, this week is about raising awareness by helping those who don’t have DYSLEXIA to understand how it feels for family or friends who DO have DYSLEXIA, and what we can do to help them.

You may wish to take a(nother) look at 2024’s very informative and helpful Powerpoint slides for last year’s DYSLEXIA AWARENESS WEEK – there are 13 of them. Slides 11 and 12 provide links to excellent short films (3 or 4 minutes for each one): ChildrensPresentation2024Download

Every school session we get many queries from parents and carers about dyslexia. These range from questions around what the ‘signs’ of dyslexia are, to how we assess for dyslexia and what parents/carers can do to support their child if they have or are showing signs of dyslexia.
I will be hosting a ‘Dyslexia Information Session’ for parents/carers on Thursday 9th October from 2pm – 3pm. All parents and carers are most welcome. If you would like to attend, please see Mrs Canning’s letter …

Thank you for making the time to find out a little more about DYSLEXIA by reading this BLOG and helping everyone at CKPS to celebrate … 🎉 2025’s DYSLEXIA AWARENESS WEEK, SCOTLAND! 👏
That’s all for now, Mrs Dale
