In literacy, we were writing reports about Goblins. We met a star Goblin, called Twinkle Dust and a cupboard Goblin called Muncher and a Grass Goblin called Greenblade. We used headings and bullet points to write notes about our chosen Goblin and thought about what they would look like, where they would live, what their personality would be and other interesting facts. We then used out notes to write detailed paragraphs. We used this information and typed it into AI to create our Goblins – some were cute, some were disgusting and some were really scary!

Once we had written about our Goblins, we decided we did not want them running around the school and causing havoc. We needed to trap them. We drew and labelled traps and then worked co-operatively to make the traps to capture the Goblins. It was a lot of fun!

In class, we have been reading the book, Why The Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo. We gave it a 5 star review because we loved it so much. In the book, the main character, The Birdman, loves birds and makes sculptures of them. We researched sea birds and then use this to help us make our own clay models.

We have been learning about the organs of the human body and the different systems within it- the circulatory system, the digestive system, the respiratory system and the nervous system. We learned about how they work and how to keep them healthy and strong. We enjoyed working co-operatively to make life size bodies and then drawing the organs within. We used our giant posters to look at how the different systems work. Primary 5B were particularly interested in the digestive system and how our body absorbs nutrients from the food we eat and expels the rest into the toilet. We spoke about the importance of eating a healthy diet and talked about how too much sugar is not good for us. Lots of us are now bringing in healthier, less sugary snacks, and drinking water instead of diluting juice. Well done!

We have been learning, speaking and answering simple questions in Spanish. We learned how to say the numbers to 10, how to say different colours, a range of greetings, pets, family members and parts of the body. Here are some photographs to show you the different and fun ways we have been learning.
