This term, P2B are learning about castles in Scotland. We started off by thinking about all things Scottish.
We had some visitors from a group called Ceilidh and Co who came into class for one session to teach us some songs about Auld Reekie (Edinburgh). They returned to do a show to P1-P3, telling us tales about a unicorn and a lava monster from a volcano. All of their songs were sung in Scots and we learned lots of new words alongside lots of facts about life in Edinburgh.

P2 had a choice of two Scots poems to learn and what a brilliant job we did. Everyone recited their poem to the whole class and were so good that is was very hard for Mrs Mac to choose 3 finalists! Here we are, Team Spaceman and Team Daisies…
We took part in the Scottish art competition. Inspired by the landscape of Scotland and our learning of some animal names, we created our own landscapes and added some wee creatures. We used watercolours and salt to create a texture to look like hills or water. Aren’t we a talented bunch?

We’re now learning about castles in Scotland. But what makes a building a castle? We have turned our classroom into a castle to find out.

Keep looking in to find out about life in Castle Carrick Knowe!
