Every day we experience lots of different feelings. In P2 we have been thinking about the Building Resilience unit ‘Talk Things Over’ and the Zones of Regulation. Every day, we put our name into a pot to register and show how we are feeling. Some days we stay in the same zone all day. Other days, we move from zone to zone.

Is it ok to feel these emotions? Absolutely! Our aim is to get back to green as that where we are happiest and ready to learn. We decided that it is what you do when you’re in another zone that really matters.
But what does it look like when you are in these zones? We looked at each zone in turn and taught grown up visitors all about them! We described them and then made faces which showed emotions using loose parts.

Which zone do you think we are in?

We thought about what we could do to get back to green. We made two things that we can use to help us to be calm and feeling okay again. We made breathing bracelets, which help you take 10 big deep calming breaths by moving each bead. We also made sensory feelings balls with flour, which was fun to make, if a little messy!

One of the ways we can get back to green, is to Talk Things Over with our Back-Up Team. Who is in your back up team?
