It’s Book Week this week in school and P2B have been enjoying all things book related! On Monday, we took out every book in our class library and picked our favourite. We then explained to our partner, why our chosen book was better than theirs! After lots of discussion and voting we got down to our final five! We will read one book from our top 5 every day and then vote again on Friday to see if our order changes!

On Tuesday, we visited Corstorphine Library. We had a tour of the library, did a scavenger hunt to find different sections in the library and became authors as we created our own books!

Wednesday was Book Swap Day! We had a chance to bring in a book that we no longer wanted and to swap it for something new. Lots of us brought in books and were vey happy with our new choices. Happy reading everyone!
On Thursday, we read Zog and the Flying Doctors. In the story, Princess Pearl joins the Flying Doctors but her uncle, the king, does not like it. He thinks that princesses should not be doctors and should do girly things and wear pretty frilly dresses. That is, until he gets ill and who comes to the rescue? Yes, you are right, Princess Pearl, the doctor! We had a big discussion about all the different types of jobs people could have and that anyone can do any job, it doesn’t matter if they are a boy, a girl or even a princess! Each person drew themselves doing a job. Our poster will go in the library along with a poster from each class.
Friday was our celebration of World Book Day. We dressed up as characters from a book. I think you’ll agree that we look fantastic!
We saw all of the nursery and P1-3 pupils dressed up and had a P2B winner. Princess Pearl and the King even managed to come for the day!
Our last job of the week was to vote on original Top 5 books, now that we have read each one again.

Every book changed position! It just shows that it is good to re-read stories that you have not read in a while.
