… while Fred Frog wants to go for a sail! …

… and … ‘cOW 🐄 takes a bOW’! (The ‘Cow takes a bow’ story reminded several of us of a recent visit to the CIRCUS! 🎪🤡) …

Whatever next?!… Fred Frog fancies a sail in a bOAt with his P3 friends and a gOAt! We also used ‘finger spelling’ to help us to spell some ‘igh’ words for our writing about ‘frights in the night’! …

Many thanks to our P7 buddies who helped us to read stories with either blue ‘oo’ sound words, or with green ‘ee/ea’ sound words; we used our fingers to spell the words before adding them to the correct leaf on our sound trees …
SPELLING …
Some of us in P4 have been practising words which include three letters which make one sound! We’re really good at using our fingers to help sound out and then spell the words using joined-up writing. Look at our neat writing – we know how to ‘dot and dash’ our words too – why not ask us to show you how we do this?! …

Meanwhile, some of us in P5 enjoyed a ‘FIX game’ while reading and spelling words with suffixes such as -less or -ness before adding a few more words to our ‘most common words’ posters; during our group time we chatted about and applied our ‘META-SKILLS’ of Integrity and Focusing! …

In case you’re wondering…. Meta-skills are ”transferable behaviours and abilities that help us to adapt and succeed in life, study and work”. There are three broad categories of meta-skills: the first is Self-management, which includes: focusing, integrity, adapting, initiative. If you would like to find out more about meta-skills, you can take a look here: https://www.skillsdevelopmentscotland.co.uk/media/rbmj1kjm/meta-skills-progression-framework.pdf
And some of us in P7 were learning more about the prefix ‘de’ … for example, demand, detect, depend …

PUPPET SHOWS! …
We’ve been having lots of fun rehearsing our puppet shows …
READING …
We’re very grateful to our PSAs (Pupil Support Assistants) for all their help with practising and improving our reading skills as we use our ‘Toe by Toe’ books …

ALLOTMENT NEWS …
Out at the allotment this past week we noticed a few SEASONAL changes …

AUTUMN became WINTER… and now we’re seeing signs of SPRING…

SUCCESSFUL LEARNING …
Using our ‘Zones of Regulation’, having a Growth Mindset, ‘Brain Breaks’ and various kinds of celebrations, are just some of the things which help keep us motivated to LEARN!

Fred Frog loved this fun ‘Google Doodle’ which he saw on the last ‘bonus’ day of February! …

… He was LEAPing about even more than usual on Thursday 29th February because 2024 is a LEAP year! So we had an extra day in the month of February – this happens every 4th year, so for the next 3 years February will only have 28 days!
Now in the month of March, there will be 31 busy days until April arrives! I hope everyone has a good first weekend of March! Mrs Dale
