With the continuously windy wet weather this spring, the plastic sheeting on our old polytunnel had become very torn, and despite repeated attempts by Mr Millar to repair it, it just kept getting more and more damaged. Apparently, polytunnels generally only last for 10 years, and ours was much older.

When we phoned to ask about refurbishment, we were advised to remove the sheeting immediately, or the whole frame could become damaged. Mr Millar kindly did this for us, but now we had no polytunnel.

However, we applied to Edinburgh Airport Community Fund and they kindly gave us the funds to cover the whole cost of the refurbishment. On Monday, work was started, and finished by Tuesday afternoon.

This is fantastic! Now we can get on and grow all the fruits and vegetables we normally grow on the allotment.

Happy Easter from everyone at Carrick Knowe! We return to school on Tuesday 21st April.
