We have been having lots of fun with circuits over the last couple of weeks. We have been lighting up bulbs, making sound with buzzers and making movement with fans. P5 have been making sure that the circuit is complete and that the current flows through metal and not other materials.

We looked at how we could add more than one thing to power and how we could make sure that there was enough power in the circuit. Some of the children were delighted to problem solve and were using more batteries and tinfoil to help power things in their circuits and create switches to turn the power on and off.
We also borrowed some things from Forrester High School so we could do an exciting experiment finding out how much energy can be made in foods when we add two different metals. We now know that potatoes and fruits can produce energy but we would never want them to power our things! (Yuck!) We predicted which fruits would give more energy and some of us got our predictions correct. We tried to get lights to light up, fans to move and buzzers to make a noise but the food cells didn’t give out enough power. We had lots of fun though experimenting.

What ‘Super Science’ will we do next week?
