This week in Primary 1 we have been focussing on measure, in particular length and height. At the start of the week we were working with a partner and in a group to find and compare objects in the classroom that were longer or shorter. We were then introduced to using an item to measure, we were using cubes to find things in the classroom that were 3,5,7,10 cubes long, this led us on to estimating how many cubes long we thought something was then measuring to see if we were right.
We ended the week by looking at height and using the language taller or shorter, we had fun in groups trying to arrange ourselves in height order, we had a go at using metre sticks to measure the height of objects in the classroom we tried to measure ourselves, however a lot of us are taller than 1m so we decided to create a class height chart. We look forward to seeing how much we will have grown by the end of Primary 1.

We read the story Jack and the Beanstalk, then had a challenge to build our own beanstalks and measure how tall they were. Some of us even added things at the top of our beanstalk we had castles, swimming pools and pots of gold.
